Looking for Replacement Windows

Hello. I am writing in the hopes of learning of companies offering affordable replacement windows. Our windows are in bad shape. We just moved into our home and have found windows are either damaged or they could be cracked! Virtually all need to be replaced and that amounts to more than 12 windows. Have you had any luck making these substantial home repairs?

We are also considering our options with adding patio doors to the purchase as well. Since the property is in real need of some TLC, we are hoping that the replacement of the windows and the patio door will make the home more attractive and less frigid next winter. We have not moved in yet, so we did not have to experience this yet. My question for anyone that may be there is about double hung windows. I am very seriously considering these but I want to make sure they are actually worth it. If you have them, do they really allow for easy cleaning and still keep a nice seal on them to prevent cold air from coming in? The hope is that these will last a long time, especially since we are making such a large investment into them.

Yes, I have these windows and they are definitely worth it! Not so much on the windows I have to get a ladder for anyway, but then again, they're definitely worth it for windows that are a stretch even WITH a ladder since I can tilt them toward me to make them more reachable. But those upperstory windows I can reach easily inside but not out--magnificent!

I would like to know that, too, since they look simply wonderful. I think that they are all the rage right now, and from what I've heard, the seals are just as good as with regular windows. I think they shouldn't be much more costly than regular windows.

How much more expensive are they? What materials are they made of? Do they come in models for cold-weather climates? I'm curious about all of this, myself. And I wonder if there is a maximum as to the size, since I have some very large windows in my home. I mean really gigantic upper windows.
