I recently finally paid off my last loan from when I took out all my private student loans while I was in college. So I am finally free and I could not possibly be any more excited than I am now. I think that I have also just recently finally made my big decision as to what I am going to do with the rest of my life now that I have the freedom from any kind of financial debt or obligation to other people and organizations. Or I do not know maybe it will not be for the rest of my life but at least for the next several years I know that I am going to be going traveling.
Some of my friends and family have reacted very positively to this idea, but kind of surprisingly, a number of them have not responded very kindly to my big dreams of going traveling. I do not really understand why they are not supportive because it is not as though anything that I am going to do with my life is going to be affecting their lives at all but you would sure think so with the way they act sometimes. Hopefully they will come around.

Your family is probably just worried about you. I'm sure that they love you and are going to miss you while you are gone. That is probably why they are not being supportive.
It's cool that you are no longer in debt but what are you going to do for money while you travel? How are you going to work? Maybe that is why your family is upset.
Yeah, good luck with that! If I told my mother that I was going to take a couple of years to travel, she would NEVER come around! She would probably lock me in the basement.
Traveling is wonderful. I took a year after college and went so many places. It was an amazing experience and I am so glad that I did it!! Good luck!
Travel now while you can! It is so much fun. Later on, when you are married an have kids, you won't be going ANYWHERE!! I consider it a win when I get to go to the grocery store! :P
